Kenya vs Madagascar CHAN quarterfinal tickets sell out in 15 minutes, leaving fans disappointed

NAIROBI, Kenya — Football fans rushed to secure their seats for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) quarter-final match between Kenya and Madagascar, with tickets selling out in just 15 minutes.

On Tuesday morning, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that ticket sales would begin at exactly 12 noon, giving fans the opportunity to secure their spots for the highly anticipated match scheduled for Friday.

However, as fans flooded the online sales platform at midday, the official website initially experienced technical errors due to the overwhelming demand.

When the site finally became accessible, the organizers, through the ticket distributor Mookh, communicated that all tickets had been sold.

“Sold out. We are sorry, but this event has sold out,” the message read.

This rapid sell-out underscores the immense excitement surrounding the tournament, which has garnered significant interest across the continent.

While the swift sale is a strong indicator of the tournament’s appeal and the fans’ dedication to their teams, it also left many supporters disappointed after missing out on the limited slots.

Earlier, authorities had assured fans of a smooth entry process and strict crowd control measures for the match. CAF had also previously announced an increase in ticket prices.

“Mark your calendar! Sales start on August 19, 2025, at 12 pm,” CAF stated on its official website.

The price of a regular ticket was increased by KSh 50, making it KSh 250, up from the previous KSh 200. Similarly, the VIP ticket price was raised by KSh 100, now costing KSh 600, up from KSh 500.

Despite the price increase, the tickets were quickly snapped up, demonstrating the high demand for the match.

CHAN 2024 has already delivered a series of thrilling games, and the quarterfinal clash between Kenya and Madagascar is being billed as one of the highlights of the tournament.

The game is scheduled for Friday, August 22, at 5 p.m.
