NAIROBI, Kenya — Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed profound sorrow over the death of popular content creator Zachariah Kariuki, widely known as Mr. KK Mwenyewe.

News of the comedian’s passing on Monday evening at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital has sent shockwaves through the creative industry and among his vast fanbase.

In a statement issued from the United States, where he is currently on a political tour with his spouse Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, Gachagua eulogized Mr. KK as a “content creator per excellence and inspiration to many.”

“I have this morning woken up to the sad demise of Mr Zachariah Kariuki alias Mr KK Mwenyewe, a content creator per excellence and inspiration to many,” said Gachagua.

Mr. KK Mwenyewe gained widespread acclaim for his incisive political satire and remarkably witty impersonations of Gachagua himself, which garnered him a significant following across social media platforms.

His death was announced Tuesday morning by fellow comedian Kafengo, though the cause was not disclosed.

The Democracy for Citizens Party leader extended his deepest sympathies to Mr. KK’s bereaved family and friends, as well as to the broader creative industry.
