NAIROBI, KENYA — President William Ruto has fulfilled his commitment to sponsor ten vulnerable girls from each of the seventeen constituencies within Nairobi County.
This initiative follows a promise made by the President in March 2025, during the official opening of PCEA Booth Girls’ High School in Ngong Forest, where he pledged to cover the students’ educational expenses.
Today, at State House Nairobi, President Ruto hosted the beneficiary students, their parents, and teachers for a breakfast gathering.

He emphasized that this opportunity would provide access to quality education for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to pursue their academic aspirations.
“I directed the Ministry of Education to ensure that the students are from needy homes so that I pay their fees,” he stated.
The President disclosed that he is sponsoring over 200 students at the school, covering their school fees, uniforms, and essential supplies.
Furthermore, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has deployed teachers to PCEA Booth Girls’ High School.
The event was attended by Members of Parliament (MPs) Phelix Odiwuor (Lang’ata), Beatrice Elachi (Dagoretti North), Anthony Olouch (Mathare), Timothy Wanyonyi (Westlands), and Esther Passaris (Nairobi County).
President Ruto reiterated the government’s dedication to addressing classroom shortages in schools nationwide and ensuring a seamless transition from Junior School to Senior School within the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system.
He highlighted that the government is undertaking the construction of 23,000 classrooms across the country.
The President also emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritizing the educational needs of Nairobi County.
He announced that the government has allocated Ksh. 1 billion for the construction of additional classrooms in Nairobi.
“When I went to Nairobi and saw the gaps that still exist, my friends and I resolved to build 240 classrooms in different schools. I want these classrooms completed in 90 days,” he added.
President Ruto further pledged to build a school in Mabatini, Mathare Constituency, to address the educational challenges prevalent in the area.

Regarding support for underprivileged students, he stated that the National Government is collaborating with county governments to establish a framework for the provision of bursaries.
“I have given instructions to the Ministry of Education to work with the Council of Governors to do the framework that is required by law so that we can facilitate scholarships from the National and County governments,” he said.
The President underscored the significance of education as a powerful tool for social equity, leveling the playing field for children from diverse backgrounds.
In other news, President Ruto confirmed that the government’s affordable housing program is progressing successfully, with new homeowners soon to receive their keys.
