KAMPALA, UGANDA — Captain Mike Mukula, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda, has finalized his acquisition of Paragon Hospital in Bugoloobi, which has now been rebranded as Healingway Hospital.

The facility, having undergone a name change in recent months, was officially inaugurated on Wednesday by the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among.

During the opening ceremony, Speaker Among commended Captain Mukula for his visionary leadership and commitment to serving humanity.

“You could have put this money somewhere else but because you feel for people in Uganda and humanity, you invested it here yet you will not recover in one or five or 10 years. This is giving back to community,” Speaker Among stated.

“When you invest in a hospital, it is not about getting money but serving humanity and supporting the community that you live with. I want to thank you for having people at heart.”

She pledged her support not only to Captain Mukula’s endeavor but also to the broader private sector in its efforts to supplement the government’s provision of healthcare services to Ugandans.

“We want to thank you for complementing government efforts in making sure we have the best health services in the country. As government, our work is to provide all medical facilities to Ugandans but because of so many priorities, we may not be able to provide everything. We want to thank the private sector that has come in to complement what government has done.”

Speaker Among also acknowledged President Museveni for fostering a conducive environment that enables the private sector to flourish within the country.

“We want to thank the President for the conducive environment which has allowed the private sector to invest and thrive in the country.”

The chairman of Fortune Group of Companies, the parent organization of Healingway Hospital, stated that the facility aligns with President Museveni’s vision of providing African solutions to African challenges.

“In the health sector, our initiative is to develop and provide opportunities for young people and talents in the health profession to provide solutions to the challenges we face as a nation by providing an ideal environment and treating our people.”

He further indicated that their strategy includes capitalizing on the significant number of Ugandans who currently seek medical treatment abroad, particularly in Kenya and India.

According to Captain Mukula, Healingway Hospital aims to offer a comprehensive range of medical services locally, thereby eliminating the need for Ugandans and East Africans to travel internationally for treatment.
