President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, National Resistance Movement (NRM) party chairman and presidential flagbearer, launched the party’s 2026–2031 manifesto at a grand ceremony held at the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo.

KAMPALA, Uganda — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, in his capacity as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party chairman and presidential flagbearer, officially launched the NRM’s 2026–2031 manifesto at a grand ceremony held at the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo.

The event, which drew a large gathering of top NRM officials, government dignitaries, and party supporters, marks the formal commencement of Museveni’s campaign for another five-year term in the 2026 general elections.

The manifesto, centered on the theme “Protecting the Gains,” underscores the NRM’s commitment to consolidating Uganda’s stability, economic progress, and socio-economic transformation.

During his address, President Museveni outlined key strategic priorities for the coming term, including the diversification of energy sources to include nuclear power, as well as the promotion of patriotism, Pan-Africanism, and democratic principles.

He declared, “The NRM has sailed Uganda through turbulent storms,” while emphasizing the party’s continued focus on wealth creation, job opportunities, education, healthcare, justice, and regional integration.

The launch event was attended by prominent figures, including members of the NRM Central Executive Committee and the NRM Secretariat. Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among, who serves as the NRM’s 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female), emphasized the critical need for party unity and voter mobilization.

Allied groups, such as the Patriotic League of Uganda, have already pledged to secure over 80% voter turnout for the President, highlighting the party’s robust grassroots support.

The manifesto launch is strategically timed to follow Museveni’s recent nomination for the 2026 polls. The event also took place concurrently with the manifesto unveiling of opposition leader Bobi Wine of the National Unity Platform (NUP) in Jinja, setting the stage for a competitive election season.

The Speke Resort Convention Centre, a venue known for hosting major national events, previously served as the location for the launch of the 2021–2026 manifesto, which was themed “Securing Your Future” and focused on inclusive development and job creation.

While supporters celebrated the document as a “bold blueprint” for Uganda’s continued progress, some critics have raised concerns regarding the accountability for past electoral promises, reigniting public debate on issues of governance and economic equity.

As the 2026 campaigns gain momentum, attention will now turn to how the NRM’s stated commitments will shape Uganda’s future, as the party cautions against sectarianism and urges voters to rally behind its vision for continued prosperity.
