KIGALI, Rwanda — The East African gospel community and the internet community, particularly on TikTok, are mourning the death of Musabyimana Gloriose, affectionately known as Gogo Gloriose.
The celebrated Rwandan singer passed away in Rwanda on the night of September 3, 2025, according to familiar sources.
Reports suggest that she died shortly after being admitted to Kyegera Doctors Center following a sudden, brief illness.
According to close associates, Gogo had traveled to Uganda for a series of gospel engagements, attending a crusade in Mbarara from August 29 to 31 before heading to Kampala for promotional work.
Soon after arriving in Kampala, she fell ill, but her condition was manageable. Upon her return to Rwanda, her health deteriorated, and despite being rushed to the hospital, her condition worsened, leading to her untimely death.

Gogo was born with a rare genetic condition that made her appearance distinct. However, she defied the odds and used her musical gift to rise above prejudice and insults. Her humility, resilience, and strong faith endeared her to many.

Over the years, she became an internet sensation across Rwanda and gradually gained popularity throughout East Africa and the world. Her gospel performances and uplifting messages spread widely on social media platforms.
Gogo became famous after her videos, in which she was singing during an interview, went viral on TikTok. She quickly shot to internet stardom and became a timeless meme. She will undoubtedly be remembered for as long as the internet lives.
