ATLANTA, GA — Police in Atlanta are investigating a significant theft last week involving computer drives containing unreleased music by superstar Beyoncé, alongside sensitive planning documents for her ongoing “Cowboy Carter” tour.

The incident, which occurred just days before the pop icon’s Atlanta concerts, saw a suspect make off with the valuable items, and authorities confirmed Monday that the individual remains at large.

The theft took place on July 8, when a rental car used by Beyoncé’s choreographer, Christopher Grant (37), and a dancer was targeted. The incident report states that Grant discovered the vehicle’s rear window smashed and their luggage missing upon his return.

Inside the stolen luggage were multiple jump drives. Grant informed police that these drives “contained water marked music, some un-released music, footage plans for the show, and past and future set list,” according to the report. In addition to the digital assets, an Apple MacBook, headphones, and several luxury clothing items were also reported stolen.

Police launched an investigation, tracing the last known location of the MacBook and headphones via their tracking pings. However, the report does not indicate any recovery of the stolen items at that time.

Atlanta Police have since issued an arrest warrant for an unnamed suspect, though the individual has yet to be apprehended.

The “Cowboy Carter” tour, promoting Beyoncé’s critically acclaimed 2024 album, commenced in April following her historic win of her first “Album of the Year” Grammy for the record. The album, a sprawling country-themed work, marked a significant foray into a new genre for the global superstar, diverging from much of her previous discography.

This ambitious and historically rooted project also sought to elevate and highlight the contributions of other Black artists in country music, a sector that has often marginalized their rich legacy.

As her stadium tour approaches its conclusion, Beyoncé wrapped up her four-night engagement in Atlanta on Monday. Her final two performances are scheduled for late July in Las Vegas.
