KAKAMEGA, Kenya — Police in Lurambi, Kakamega County, have initiated an investigation following the tragic murder of a 17-year-old girl in a rental house.

The primary suspect, believed to be her boyfriend, has reportedly fled the scene and is thought to have gone to Uganda.

Both the deceased and the alleged perpetrator are believed to be Ugandan nationals.

Local residents indicate that the couple had only rented the house a day prior to the incident.

The victim’s mother, who was aware of her daughter’s relationship, grew concerned after hearing reports that the suspect had allegedly committed suicide in Uganda.

She contacted relatives residing in Kakamega to inquire about her daughter’s well-being. It was through these relatives that she received the devastating news of her daughter’s death.

Authorities are urging residents to remain calm as the investigation progresses and efforts to apprehend the suspect continue.
