Indian border troops have shot dead a Pakistani man they say crossed the international frontier and did not stop when challenged.

NEW DELHI, India — Indian border security forces reported on Saturday 24, May 2025 that they shot and killed a Pakistani man who they claimed had crossed the international border and failed to halt when instructed to do so.

The incident occurred two weeks after India and its long-time rival Pakistan reached a ceasefire agreement following a four-day conflict that resulted in the deaths of over 70 individuals due to missile, drone, and artillery fire.

According to a statement from India’s Border Security Force (BSF), their personnel observed “one suspicious person advancing towards the border fence” on Friday evening. This fence is situated beyond the international frontier in the Banaskantha district of Gujarat state.

“They challenged the intruder, but he continued to advance, prompting them to open fire,” the BSF stated. “The intruder was neutralised on the spot.”

A photograph released by the BSF depicted a deceased man with grey hair.

The recent conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations was initiated by an attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir on April 22nd. This attack was the deadliest against civilians in the disputed Muslim-majority region in decades.

New Delhi accused Islamabad of supporting the Islamist militants it alleged were responsible for the attack, accusations that Pakistan has denied.
