KAMPALA, UGANDA — The iconic Ugandan girl group Blu 3, featuring Cindy Sanyu, Jackie Chandiru, and Lilian Mbabazi, is reigniting their musical magic after years apart, sending waves of excitement through their fanbase.

Building on the momentum of their triumphant reunion concert in June 2024, the trio has officially announced their return to the recording studio. They are currently crafting a highly anticipated Extended Play (EP) that is slated for release in the near future.

In a recent interview on Tusker Malt Conversessions, the singers expressed their enthusiasm for collaborating on this new project.

While eager to deliver fresh music, they also emphasized that fans should anticipate a more measured release schedule.

Each member continues to dedicate time to their respective solo careers, balancing their individual pursuits with the group’s revival.

“It feels like nostalgia—going back to an era that I loved so much,” Jackie Chandiru admitted. “Back then, if I ever got tired and couldn’t sing, I knew the girls had my back. Now, it’s on a whole different level. It makes me happy knowing that even if something doesn’t go right, one of them will step in.”

Lilian Mbabazi said that Blu3’s legacy will always live on: “As long as we are alive, we are always going to be Blu3. Reuniting and performing together was just the first step.”

For Cindy Sanyu, being back with the group allows her to embrace a different artistic side: “Forget the money, the excitement, the glamour—being in this setting is refreshing. As Cindy, I don’t usually dress like this, but with Blu3, I get to do all this, and I love it.

Last year, we didn’t know how things would go. We thought it was just going to be one show, and that would be it. But the more audiences see us, the more they love and demand more. We are still talking about it.”

While the precise date for the EP’s release is still a closely guarded secret, Blu 3’s renewed presence in the studio confirms their commitment to this exciting chapter.

Fans can anticipate a sonic blend that harmonizes the group’s beloved signature sound with contemporary influences, promising both a sense of nostalgia and a fresh listening experience.

The trio’s return to recording signals that Blu 3’s story is far from over, and that their musical journey continues to evolve.
